The Pageant Committee wanted Miss Shelby Days to be more than just a beauty queen pageant. They wanted the ladies to give something back to the community. As such, they have held several pre-pageant events that give back.
In addition to some of the normal fun and spa treatments, they have helped in the remodel of a local arts facility that is being renovated. They have also held a bake sale and rummage sale, and a car wash with the proceeds being divided among their chosen charities.
That is another element of this year’s pageant. The young ladies have each chosen a charity to act on behalf of. Their fundraising activities are being judged as well and will be factored into the final decision. As part of the Pageant, there will be a Humanitarian Award presented during Downtown Shelby Days with a check being presented to the associated charity. The award will go to the Miss Shelby and Junior Miss Shelby that raises the most funds for their chosen charity leading up to the competition.
The young ladies will be honored and get to present their checks to the charities on Saturday evening during Downtown Shelby Days. The Humanitarian Award presentation will take place at 7pm on the main stage in between musical acts.
Following is a list of the ladies with their chosen 501c3 charity.
